How You Feeling?

Today is Saturday July 4th, it’s been 17 weeks since New York declared a state of emergency due to the Covid-19 crisis. I don’t believe there is anyone walking this earth that hasn’t been effected in some way by this pandemic. I feel that the residents of New York City have done an amazing job thus far, and I have personally seen incredible acts of kindness from the very beginning. From people pitching in to feed our frontline workers to neighbors checking in on neighbors to make sure everything is okay. So today, as everyone is celebrating July 4th, Healthy New Yorker just wanted to check in and make sure everyone is okay.

Feeling dizzy and short of breath? It may be anxiety….Take a deep breathe in through your nose and hold for 5 seconds. Release slowly through your mouth and repeat. This will activate the parasympathetic nervous system and help to slow down your body and breathing rate. When we get nervous, we tend to breathe through our mouth fast, some may hyperventilate.  This breathing technique can be researched to help alleviate the symptoms.If symptoms persist, always seek medical advice.
